Employee Support Investments - A Smart Move

Employee Support Investments - A Smart MoveWhen was the last time you gave a co-worker a compliment? When was the last time you even acknowledged a routine task they do? Now ask yourself, when did I last receive a compliment?

If it's been awhile, it may be time to focus some energies that way. By simply saying "Congratulations" or "Nice Job" to a co-worker, your words help them by reducing stress, increasing their sense of worth, enhancing communication, and creating a greater sense of team support. That's quite a return for a small one or two word investment.

  1. Alan Kay says:

Affirmations are a highly under-utilized resource in organizations. I also note that it’s similar to the parenting rule about complimenting children, i.e., don’t just say, ‘Good girl/boy!’, but instead explain what they did right.
‘I like how you did x, y, and z’, not only affirms them, but also clarifies their skills and purposeful behaviours.

It's the little, specific things that matter!
